Fiat Chrysler has announced that it will more than double its production of Dodge Challenger and Charger SRT Hellcat models for the 2016 model year in response to the supercars’ overwhelming demand.
“To meet this demand, we are more than doubling our SRT Hellcat production for 2016 and simplifying the process to make it easier for our enthusiasts to get their hands on the hottest muscle cars in history,” said Tim Kuniskis, President and CEO, Dodge and SRT brands, FCA US. “In addition, customers with verified sold orders that weren’t built in the 2015 model year will receive special discounted pricing if they re-order in 2016.”
A news release states that remaining 2015 scheduled Hellcat orders will be completed at the Brampton, Ontario assembly plant, while unscheduled 2015 orders will be cancelled. Instead, those buyers will be asked to place new orders for 2016 models, which will be offered at a discounted price.
2016 Dodge Challenger and Charger SRT Hellcat models are now available for order, with dealerships having received their allotments earlier this month. Depending on sales, dealerships may qualify for a second allotment in February 2016.
