Dodge remains the king of building the world’s best supercars, as proven by their plans for the 2016 Dodge Viper ACR. While many other new supercars have been released recently, trying to challenge the Viper for its throne, all of them pale in comparison to the new Viper. In fact, the 2016 Viper ACR will be the fastest Viper model ever made by Dodge.
In May, Tim Kuniskis, President and CEO of the Dodge brand, revealed the new Viper ACR while leading a tour of the Fiat Chrysler plant where the new model will be built. ACR is an abbreviation for American Club Racer, and since this new car can go up to 177 mph, it certainly lives up to the name. “This is the fastest street-legal, track car we’ve ever built – bar none,” Kuniskis said.
The 2016 Viper gets its power from an enormous 8.4-liter V-10 engine. It gets up to 645 hp and 600 lb-ft of torque. The Viper ACR gets even more power and speed from its great aerodynamics and 2,000 lbs of downforce the car generates. “Our goal is to arm enthusiasts with the ultimate Viper track car to dominate road courses around the world,” Kuniskis said, summing it up as well as we could.
